Ogee Edge

An ogee edge is one way to design the edge of a countertop. This design has a concave arch that continues to a convex arch. Ogee edges are found in traditional and old-world style kitchen designs.

Ogee edges have a flowing design of alternating arches. Ogee edges are very different from a bullnose edge, which is simply a rounded edge on a countertop. This type of edge has a tiered look that bring a unique character to any design. Ogee edges can be cut into granite, marble, and concrete. Ogee edges are also available for laminate countertops. The drawback to ogee edges is the very high price tag associated with the design. However, homeowners will often choose this edge to add a unique and appealing look to their design, especially if price is not a consideration. Ogee edges can also be created using a router on woodwork and moldings to create a cohesive look throughout a space. Another place where ogee edges can be found is on glass items, such as tables or mirrors.
