Dentil Molding – Dentil molding is a wooden trim composed of tooth-shaped blocks of wood. It is used on both interior and exterior designs. It is common in ancient Roman and Greek architecture where blocks were carved into the stone of buildings. Currently, dentil molding is made of mostly wood composite materials or wood. It is more difficult to install than classic crown molding and, as such, is more expensive. Dentil molding requires that the blocks be cut to precise measurements with exact spacing between the blocks. Dentil molding is regularly used in buildings and even homes that imitate Greek and Roman architecture. It is used along roof lines, but also can be around interior doors and along ceilings.
